SJS OFFERS THE T.R.I.P. PROGRAM
What is T.R.I.P.?
T.R.I.P. is the Tuition Reduction Incentive Program made available at SJS. It is a program where you can order gift certificates from many of your everyday stores and merchants and receive a percentage discount of money which will be applied as a reduction to your tuition bill.

How Can I Participate?

  • Complete a registration form and turn it into the school office (forms available in the school office or through link below). You will be sent your T.R.I.P. account number with your first order. This number is to be included on all your order forms.
  • Complete an order form to order your certificates (forms available in the school office, when you pick up your order, or through link below). Enclose a check for the exact amount made out to SJS T.R.I.P. and deliver it to St. Joseph School by Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. according to scheduled dates (see chart below). New order forms will be included with your order when you pick it up. Register now for this year and start saving for next school year. Be sure to have your friends and family look over the order form to see if there are any merchants or stores they will be visiting in the next few weeks.
  • Pick up your gift certificates to use for your shopping the next week on Wednesday after 1:00 p.m. (you may give your permission to have your child bring them home from school or have them mailed if you include a stamped, self-addressed envelope).
  • Twice a year in December and May, we will apply all of your earnings from your T.R.I.P. purchases to your tuition bill and reduce your tuition by that amount. You simply shop and reduce the tuition you pay. (Tuition reimbursement schedule may change once program begins.)

When Can I Start Ordering?
Usually, the program starts up with the new school year. For the 2007/2008 school year, your first order may be placed on the Tuesday, August 28, 2007. (Please refer to scheduled dates below)

What If I Have Any Questions?
Please feel free to call Mary Corrigan (330.562.3213) or Connie Pastor (330.274.0417) if you have any questions. They'll be more than happy to help you start saving with T.R.I.P.!

T.R.I.P.-TO-GO
Ever find yourself in need of a gift card or certificate for those impromptu shopping trips or last minute gifts? Home & School has a way to solve this problem and is now offering "T.R.I.P.-to-Go". Connie Pastor is chairing this part of the program where some of our most popular items will be available for immediate purchase in the school office and after Masses the every other weekend of each month. Although these purchases will not be credited to families' tuition, profits go into a general school fund to use for whatever is needed. Questions? Please call Connie Pastor (330.274.0417) or Mary Corrigan (330.562.3214).

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How Does T.R.I.P. Reduce My Tuition?
The T.R.I.P. program will purchase bulk quantities of gift certificates from various stores (certificates will be offered once a month - orders are taken one week and picked up the following week). The certificates are sold to participating families at face value with the discount being passed on to individual accounts in the form of a tuition credit. The families of SJS will receive 75% of the credit, while the remaining 25% will be retained to cover the costs of the program. Any leftover or undesignated credits will go to the tuition assistance fund at SJS. If you are participating in T.R.I.P. as a prospective SJS family (some one who plans to send a child to SJS in the future) and do not end up sending your child to SJS, all of your earned credits will go to the SJS Student Assistance Fund.

How Do I Start?
Gift certificates are purchased by participants which are then redeemed at favorite shopping outlets.
A large variety of area merchants are participating in this program - from grocery and department and specialty stores to restaurants and gas stations. The certificates are cash and cannot be replaced, so be careful! Many merchants will not give back change, so purchase smaller denominations. Debit cards are available from some merchants and are convenient because you can use them until all the change is used up. J.C. Penney and Kohl's are the only stores that will allow you to pay off your credit card bill with their certificates, please do not attempt to pay off any other credit card bills with T.R.I.P. certificates.

How Will I Actually Receive My Tuition Credit Money?
In December and May, the SJS Office will transfer the balance from your T.R.I.P. Account to your tuition account. This, however, will probably change once we have our program in place at SJS. Patience please!

How Does This Differ From SchoolPop?
This program is very similar to the
Schoolpop Shop & Earn program (formerly known as OneCause). Just as you receive tuition credit for your online purchases, T.R.I.P. provides tuition credit for using purchases made with gift certificates from various stores. Your family and friends are encouraged to use T.R.I.P. Certificates for their purchases to further increase your savings potential! Certificates usually do not expire and can be used by friends and family out of state at the appropriate vendors.

T.R.I.P. PROGRAM POLICIES

  1. Registrants may direct their tuition credits to their own personal account, the account of another family, or to the general fund. Participants may receive additional credit by placing orders for relatives, friends, or co-workers. Grandparents may register in the program but they must designate one family to receive the credit for an entire year.
  2. Credit may only be used toward your tuition fee. If your child leaves St. Joseph Catholic School for any reason, your tuition credit dollars may be credited to your outstanding tuition balance, to another family's tuition account, or to the tuition assistance fund. Written notice of where funds should be credited must be received within 60 days of the child leaving school or the funds will be transferred to the SJS Student Assistance Fund.
  3. Because these certificates are gift certificates, they must be treated as cash. If your certificates are lost or stolen, it is not possible to reissue them. St. Joseph Catholic School and the T.R.I.P. Program managers will not be held responsible for lost or misplaced certificates. It may be helpful to sign your name on the front of the certificates when you receive them to improve the possibility of having them returned to you if lost.
  4. T.R.I.P. will run weekly except during school vacations. If a snow day should fall on a Wednesday, we will try to have the certificates ready for pick-up on Thursday, or the next school day in session.
  5. Your T.R.I.P. credits will be held in T.R.I.P.'s bank account and transferred two times a year (December and May)***. Credit may only be claimed at these two times against your tuition balance. Credits will not be made to your tuition account at any other time of the year unless you are a departing family. Any discrepancies on your T.R.I.P. statement must be brought to the attention of the T.R.I.P. Program manager within 15 days of the statement date. Your original order form and a label will be returned with your certificate order each week. Place this label and your order form in a file for record keeping purposes.
***This will be changed after we have our program up and running.
  6. Anyone writing a non-sufficient fund check will incur a fee of $20.00. The fee will have to be paid or deducted from your T.R.I.P. earnings before the next order is submitted. If three NSF checks are presented on your T.R.I.P. Account in the same year, you will be suspended from ordering privileges.
  7. A disclaimer of responsibility must be signed on the registration form if you think there will ever be a time during the year that you would like your certificates released to your child or mailed. If you sign the disclaimer you will still have the option on your weekly order form of picking them up yourself. You may not have certificates picked up by another child (unless that disclaimer is signed), but you may have another adult pick them up for you. If you agree with a friend or relative that you will accept the responsibility of having certificates picked up from the school by their child, you must both sign the disclaimer form. Whenever certificates are released, they must be signed for by a child, yourself, or another adult. Please be aware of the risk involved in sending certificates by mail or home with students. If you want your certificates mailed, please send in a large, pre-addressed stamped envelope. Neither St. Joseph Catholic School nor T.R.I.P. Will accept responsibility for lost, stolen, or misplaced certificates.
