Preparing
boys to become Boy Scouts
St. Joseph's Pack #3575 offers a 12 month/year round Scouting program.
Our current Pack Leader is Aaron Gula. September through April, meetings
are held every Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph School (there
will be no meetings on holidays, during school vacations, or if schools
are closed due to inclement weather). During the summer, May through August,
monthly Pack activities are planned. For complete details, please visit
Pack #3575's website by clicking the button to the right). Currently
the Pack has the following dens:
Tiger
Cub Scouts - 1st Grade Wolf
Cub Scouts - 2nd Grade Bear
Cub Scouts - 3rd Grade Weblos
I - 4th Grade Weblos
II - 5th Grade
What Will It Cost?
Our annual Pack registration fee is $30.00 per boy. Of this amount, $17.00
goes to the Boy Scout Council. The dues breakdown as follows: Youth Registration
Fees (to Council -$7.00; Boy's Life Magazine-$9.00; Insurance-$1.00. The
balance stays with the Pack and is used toward advancements, materials,
and Pack activity expenses. That breaks down to approximately $1.08 per
month cost to each family for each boy in our Pack!
Presently, our Pack funds an entire year of Scouting with only one fundraiser,
Trails End Popcorn. Our goal is to raise enough money to fund each
boy's year in Cub Scouts with minimal out of pocket expense. Some of the
things currently paid for or supplemented with each family's fundraising
efforts are family camp-outs, awards, badges and patches, advancements,
handbooks, Blue & Gold Banquet, Pinewood Derby Race kit, graduation
ceremonies and gifts, Pack parties, leadership.
What
Is Expected of Parents?
The heart of successful Cub Scouting is adult participation. Leadership
fro our packs comes from the families of our scouts. This Pack needs the
full support and cooperation from every family for a successful scout
program for our boys. Each of us has many gifts and talents we can share.
And if we all share it makes the work load lighter for everyone.
We understand that your time is valuable and that we all lead busy lives.
However, when you register a boy in Cub Scouting, you are assuming an
obligation to assist in some way in the operation of the Pack. Therefore,
we ask that all parents commit to serving on at least one activity committee
throughout the year. Without parent participation there would be no Cub
Scout program for our boys.
Additionally, we always need leaders and committee members to help plan
and lead the Pack. Leadership is voluntary (we all are volunteers). However,
the more involved you get with the Pack, the more tremendous the rewards
. . . for the boys and yourself.
Religious
Awards Cub
Scouts may earn Religious Awards in their faith. Below are programs that
are the official religious recognition programs of the US Roman Catholic
Church for the various age levels of Boy Scouts. Members of other boy's
organizations, please inquire.
Light

Wolf Cub Scouts to develop a personal relationship with Jesus. It is awarded
on the parish level.
Parvuli
Dei - This emblem (grades 3-5) is designed to help Bear and Webelos
Cub Scouts to become more aware of God's presence in their daily lives,
especially in their homes and communities. It is awarded on the parish
level.
The
Diocese of Youngstown, Catholic Committee on Scouting and Camp Fire is
dedicated to providing quality religious recognition programming. Activities
may include opportunities to participate in writing workshops, retreat
days, Family Sharing Nights, service projects, and various other activities
at all age levels.
The certificates, pins and medals designed for each of these programs
serve as both a reminder of the experience and as symbols of commitment
of faith through prayer, service, and responsible community participation.
