The Catholic Youth Organization sports program offers young people of the parish the opportunity to learn teamwork and sportsmanship, as well as the fine points of the games in a Christian atmosphere. CYO and Community Services is a partnership of youths, adults and parishes rooted in Catholic values, committed to fostering a culture of community services and educated to serving the young, the disabled, the elderly and the poor. The overarching goal of CYO Athletics is to provide as many young people as possible the opportunity to experience spiritual, physical, mental, and emotional growth through participation in a variety of sports. When done with effective leadership, no other learning experience allows young people to build character and acquire so much information about themselves and others.

Dozens of St. Joseph’s young people have participated in Catholic Youth Organization sports over the past decade.  You can get a good idea of their success if you look at the trophy case in the school hallway.

To help us plan this school year's athletic programs, CYO is asking that anyone that will be intersted inplaying a sport this school year fill out the St. Joseph Athletics registration form. CYO is requiring that each athlete be registered online by the Parish Registrar for their respective team. CYO is requiring all of this information.
Each athlete will also need a second Akron CYO Registration Form that is signed by a phyusician certifying an exam after June 1st. This can be found online or also at St. Joseph School.

The annual Akron CYO Fee is $40, which should be paid with the first sport your child will play this school year. An additional St. Joseph Athletic fee ranges from $20 to $35 per sport. For more information about any sport or coaching, please contact our CYO Athletic Director, Mary Truax (440.834.9607). For any registration questions, please contact Kim Lally (330.562.6559). You can find more information about Akron CYO at their website, www.akroncyo.org.

These enable the coach to obtain a Coach's Card. Each coach must attend (or have attended) Child Protection Training at St. Joseph's as required by the Diocese of Youngstown.

Banquet and Fundraising
St. Joe's CYO holds an All-Sports Banquet in the spirng, celebrating particpatino with medals and a meal. There is a $500 raffle in the witner to help cover CYO team fees, uniforms, first aid supplies, gym rentals, and equipment. This helps to keep our student's fees as low as possible. Our other fundraiser is the Dunking Booth at the Ox Roast Fair. We receive all proceeds from this (volunteers are needed for set up, working during the Fair, and tear down).

SUPPORT CYO AT THE OX ROAST FAIR
