Following
the organization motto, "To help other people help themselves,"
the society responds to the corporal works of mercy through action, service,
and prayer.
The
St. Joseph, Mantua, Conference of the St. Vincent DePaul Society was established
in the Fall of 1997. By collecting and distributing the funds and material
goods of the more fortunate among us, the St. Vincent DePaul Society helps
feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and shelter the homeless. To visit

Collections
for their work are usually held the second full weekend of each month
following each of the Masses. They meet on the first Tuesday of every
month at St. Joseph's Church. They welcome new members to join them in
their work.
In
addition to providing help with utility bills, groceries & Christmas,
the group is currently involved in two ministry activities:

the third Wednesday evening of each month, they entertain the folks of
Maplewood Care Center in Streetsboro, Ohio, with a Bingo Night. An hour
and a half is spent with the residents, who get great pleasure form their
attendance. Bingo gifts and refreshments are also supplied (donations
appreciated!).
