We’d like to expand a new ministry at St. Joe’s to enhance our beautiful grounds. Many may be aware that our St. Joseph Garden Club disbanded at the end of 2019 due to dwindling membership and the age of those participating. The organization was founded in September, 1982, under the leadership of Rev. Joseph Fata, and their aim was to beautify the parish grounds, assist the Worship Committee, and gain knowledge of all aspects of gardening through education, experience and mutual friendship. The Christmas Boutique was an annual fundraiser (Sisterhood of St. Joseph now hosting).
In 2021, the initial bed clean-up and mulching was done by Tony Romano's Eagle Project. We've since paid landscaping companies to do an initial spring clean-up and mulching but it's getting expensive. Now, we’d like groups, families, couples, and individuals volunteer to handle the seasonal beautification of a designated area. Responsibilities will include spring clean up as needed, weeding, add plantings (with approval), water as necessary, deadhead and trim as needed, and fall clean-up. Plant purchases will be reimbursed by the parish if requested.
